This is a stencil with the shape of stingray and the cellular pattern on it.
I was thinking to make a floor design with it but i tried to make it more interesting so i curved it and it turned up like this which let me think to make a building design with it.

After i made 4 stencils, i tried to arrange them to fit each other. I put 2 of them together which one is flat and one is curved. I was thinking since it was white and there were holes that light and air can get through, why not putting some light in it. So, it gave me an idea of putting it on a projector to experiment it with light. It turned up with a pretty pattern on the wall which looked like a butterfly.

It is made out of clay which each of them are connected by a wire to make it stays. The shape is skeleton shape.

I got the idea from one of the building of L'Oceanografic about the way to shape my maquette. The building is facing out in every direction and since we cannot see the roof top of the middle of the building so imagine that it is hollow and open-air. So, basically my maquette is about space. No space limitation in my structure for people and the design does not take up too much space of an area.

I was thinking to keep it in original colour but i felt it is boring, so i sprayed it into black colour which make it more interesting.

A skeletal bridge, which is made of clay. i shaped the clay on skeleton shape by hand.
After it dried, i spread a layer of PVA on it to protect it to crack.
When PVA dried, i painted it in white with acrylic. When it dried, i spread another layer of PVA on it again.
I stuck the skeletons on a wood.

My concept is exposing interior space to outside such as pipes which is normally hidden inside the building is exposed to outside, that let me think of blood vessel inside the body which is similar to pipe.
So, i took the idea from blood vessel to make a maquette. From the maquette, you can see that the small blood vessel is coming out from the big blood vessel and the small blood vessel seems like the floating blood coming out from the vein.

I quite like the effect of blood vessel on maquette, so i took the idea to a building design as a roof top.

After 2 days, i checked on the resin, unfortunately the acrylic and PVA came off and dissolved to the resin.
During the weekend, i went to a shop to get clay and i told the staff about the problem with the resin. She said acrylic and PVA were water-based and advised me to use spray paint which is not water-based.

During making out the shape of stingray with clay, it kept cracking so i decided to make it out of plaster by using vacuum foaming to make a template first then pour plaster in it.

However, there was still another problem. I cant make a template with the shape that is not flat underneath. So, the technician in the workshop advised me to fill up the space underneath to make it flat. I tried it and it turned up like this.

Although it wasnt what i expected, it still looked good to me.
Problem : it was very hard to dry even though i have left it dry for 2 days since there was still moisture inside the plaster. I painted on it and it took long to dry.

I chose this blue which i got it from a building called Agora (part of the City of Art and Science Museum) in Valencia. Very attractive colour.

I was thinking how can make an arch with this big and heavy plaster. After thinking for a while, i changed my mind. I wanted to make a floor design with it.

Try to make an arch with the shape of stingray out of clay.

At the second step where i need to make another stingray shape and put it on the top of the first one, it just messed up.

So, i decided to take apart the second one from the first one and wait the first one to dry.

Finally, its done after fews hours!! let it dry for a day and put pva on it.

Shimmering Exhale Pavilion situated in Miami, US. Designed by Phu Hoang Office.
The design uses both reflective and phosphorescent ropes to create a dynamic and interactive environment that will sway and glow at night.

The oceanfront pavilion has a jellyfish-like design which is really connected to the location (beach). I like the colour and the design structure (formlessness) that have created a glowing and dynamic public space for performance-based art.
